Ice S-cream, You S-cream. . .

. . .we all s-cream for ice cream!!!
Summer is in full swing and it’s time for ice cream. The real deal. Not egg custard, right?
It never ceases to amaze me how people think making the stuff is too complicated and requires special equipment. You can buy an ice cream maker if you want but, with a few simple ingredients and a freezer. . .you can have the real deal.
Here is my simple recipe. I am almost embarrassed to share it ’cause when I make and serve it I get such rave reviews. People think I’m a rockstar chef and really it’s just childs play.
The following is my recipe for vanilla but you can change it up by switching the vanilla extract to any flavour extract you choose. Also, you can add up to 1 cup of mix-ins such as chocolate chips, nuts, candy pieces, jams or fresh fruit. Just make sure to fold them in gently at the end so they are well distributed throughout the final product.
Recipe: Amber’s Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups of cream, whipped to stiff peaks
- 1 tsp. of vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large bowl with a tight fitting lid, combine the sweetened condensed milk with the vanilla. Stir until well blended. Gently fold in the whipped cream and place plastic wrap on top of the mixture, making sure to seal around the edges. Put the lid on the bowl and put in the deep freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm. Scoop and serve.
